Gainsborough Downtown

The Gainsborough downtown area is well supported by amenities and transport links to the rest of the town and further afield.

Acis Group look after approximately 300 homes in the area which are a mixture of flats, houses and bungalows, including the listed St John's Vicarage. Pillared House in the area has 26 contained flats for anyone over the age of 55 or with a proven medical need.

The area also includes the new Bowling Green development with rented homes, Shared Ownership and privately owned homes. There will also be 60 supported flats coming soon, so watch this space for more information and to have your say.

Amenities in the area include:

  • Marshall's Yard, with shops, restaurants, and events including a monthly farmers market.
  • A market in the town centre twice a week
  • Supermarkets
  • the library
  • Leisure centre
  • Bus station
  • Train station

    Since our last neighbourhood audit we have been continuing to

    • Identify a number of garden and tenancy issues
    • Monitor our ongoing garden and tenancy issues and work with our customers to help resolve issues
    • Identify communal repairs and any health and safety issues and raise jobs to complete any repairs needed
    • Raise clearance jobs where necessary to remove fly tipping

    On our August neighbourhood walkabout we have found

    • Multiple untidy gardens and hedges and other tenancy issues
    • Fly tipping
    • Some communal courtyards and paths are looking untidy and need maintaining
    • Bin capacity query at Wembley Street, Heaton Street & Hickman Street flats

    What have we done?

    • Contact has been made to the tenants with untidy gardens with a view to support them to resolve the issues
    • Raise clearance jobs where necessary for flytipping
    • A solution to Wembley Street, Heaton Street & Hickman Street flats is being looked into
    • We are assessing conditions of some communal areas to arrange tidy ups


  • Neighbourhood Audits

    On our last neighbourhood audit we have identified the following:

    Untidy gardens, we have contacted these customers.

    Cases of fly tipping in communal areas - we have requested our clearance team to clear these areas.

    Fly tipping is an ongoing issue, when we know who has done this we are able to charge them for the clearances. If you see anybody dumping rubbish, or you have noticed fly tipping anywhere, please report it us.
