Autumn & Winter Gardening Advice

A little time now makes a big difference! As the weather gets colder, gardens can quickly become untidy and overgrown. Keeping on top of a few simple jobs helps keep your home, garden and neighbourhood safe, tidy and welcoming

TOP 10 AUTUMN GARDEN JOBS

1 Cut the grass Give the lawn a final cut and keep it under control.

2 Trim hedges Cut back overgrown hedges and shrubs, especially around paths and gates.

3 Clear fallen leaves Keep paths, steps and entrances clear to reduce slipping hazards.

4 Pull weeds Remove weeds and unwanted growth before they become harder to manage.

5 Cut back plants Trim back plants that are blocking paths, windows or access.

6 Clear garden rubbish Remove bags, household waste and unwanted items from the garden.

7 Check the garden gate Make sure gates open safely and access is kept clear.

8 Look after fences Keep fences and garden features in good condition and report repairs where appropriate.

9 Use garden waste services Use your green bin service or a Household Waste Recycling Centre for garden waste.

10 Plan ahead for winter A tidy garden now will be much easier to manage when spring arrives
